Layering – The Art of How To Layer Necklaces

If you were to browse through TikTok or Instagram on a regular basis, it is likely you’re familiar with those who seem to be able to stack any number of necklaces all at once.

The layered necklace look is more than just a trend, it’s a definitive style that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon!

However, there is more to it than just wearing your favourite jewellery pieces one on top of the other, so if you’re looking to elevate your style and get the most out of your necklaces this is a must read!

Tip #1: Where to start
Everyone has their favourite necklace that they find most flattering and this is a great start. You are already comfortable in this piece and by layering around it, this jewellery piece becomes the centrepiece which is a great opportunity to show it off.

Tip #2: Mind your lengths

Pairing different necklace lengths is a must in achieving the perfect layered look. As a general rule we recommend necklaces that will sit two inches apart, this is also a great way of making sure your stack doesn’t become too overcrowded.

Tip #3: Experiment with different chains
A variety of chain types are a great way to create a new exciting stack that will also tangle less! Matching thicker and thinner necklaces with contrasting styles and textures will really elevate your look. Personally at Joya Jewellery, we love the South Seas Pearl Necklace

Tip #4: Less is more
Layering is a style that encourages adding more to your look but the golden rule is still important. A two-necklace stack is a great start if you’re worried about overdoing it and, we find between two and four necklaces is a safe bet.

Tip #5:  Your outfit
Imagine curating your own stack only to find that it gets lost in your outfit. Make sure that the necklaces you’re layering are short enough to be seen or long enough to drape below the neck.

Tip #6: Have fun!

In the end there is no right or wrong way to layer, the most important thing is that you feel confident and comfortable in your stack.

We would love to see your favourite necklace stack. Some of our favourite necklaces to layer together are the Heart Leaf Necklace and the South Seas Pearl Necklace. We love to stack these two necklaces as the different chain lengths and textures are really flattering and complement each other beautifully.
